FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What am I getting?

You are getting three portfolios each month as well as an easy to read commentary about market conditions. Please note that the fund percentages do not always change each month. Two of the three portfolios are created by professional wealth managers and the third, Aggressive Trader, is algorithm derived.

How does it work?

You simply subscribe to a plan which gives you access to our member’s area. Here is where you will find the updated portfolios and market commentary. Each month you will receive an email notifying you that there has been an update.

When are new allocations released?

The allocations and market commentaries are updated at the start of each month. It is not uncommon for the allocations to remain unchanged for a few months if market conditions are stable.

Do you make the changes for me?

You maintain full control over your TSP account. We post the monthly allocations and you have the final say on how, or if, you want to use this information. This ensures you always have full transparency into your retirement and saves you money.

Do I need TSP Pilot if I'm retired?

Generally, the closer you are to the time when you intend to draw down your TSP account the less market risk you would want to accept. On the other hand the 90’s came with 20%+ yearly returns on the C Fund several years in a row. TSP Pilot will always aim to limit your exposure to market risk and conserve your capital whether the markets are rising or falling.2

When is the best time to begin following TSP Pilot?

Unfortunately, while there may be a best time to begin, that time would only be knowable in hindsight. Since the general trend of the TSP Pilot account over time is up, whether in up or down stock markets, the later you begin following the TSP Pilot fund percentage recommendations, the farther behind your account will likely be in total net return.1

Are you a registered financial advisor?

TSP Pilot is not a registered financial advisor (RIA) but we do employ an RIA via 1099 contract. Please note that being an RIA alone does not imply anything positively or negatively about performance.1

Can you provide individual retirement advice?

TSP Pilot does not provide individual retirement advice. The service provided is an educational resource, and like all other financial resources, should be carefully considered before making any investment decisions.1
